This year is kind of mellow compared to last few years as many shops in Gadong were closed down due to the lack of electricity supply. Few days ago, Brunei experienced one of the worst rain. There were deaths and houses being flooded and landslides everywhere around the country. Gadong had it bad as the power station was flooded and electricity was cut off to people living in these areas.
I didn't experience any flood in my neighbourhood, but we do have a minor landslide. The kampung which I stayed (Kampung Madewa) are built on slightly high land so flood won't affect the houses or building (but the same situation is not true for the main road -.- ) Near my house are highlands with trees growing. Last year and this year, the soil were not strong and stiff anymore so it's more landslide-prone now. Soil flowed from the highland down to the roads and main roads and drain by the rain few days ago. Till now, the soil deposit still remains but cleaning up were taking place.
It's kind of sad to see Gadong literally being shut down as tomorrow is Chinese New Year and Gadong is one of the most popular spot for people to do shopping and teenagers hanging out. Weather is slightly unpredictable as well. Afternoon is way too hot then nightfall it rained. Though the rain is only a drizzle.
I was forced to clean (well, only sweep lah) my room by my dad. He was cleaning and arranging stuff in the living room to look more neater and since during Chinese New Year we can't sweep the floor. He also cleaned the ceiling with a wet cloth stuck on a long stick (the stick is used by my mom as protection against stray dogs during her morning jog). My room is still quite messy (haven't started arranging since last November -_- ) And some of my friends balik kampung le. My friend from Singapore came back here though for Chinese New Year. Just yesterday I went to her house to collect the book I asked her to buy and a Christmas Card which she haven't give me. I insisted on paying her money but then, she win. -_- She's way more stubborn than me, but fear not! I will win the stubborn battle the next time we wage war! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
